Please review the information below before you apply through our electronic application. The information answers some frequently asked application questions.
- We ask you to apply via our online, electronic application on our website. However, if you need accommodations in completing the application, please let us know.
- We are currently ONLY accepting applications for the following legal issues: criminal legal matters, traffic cases, municipal ordinance violations, landlord-tenant or renter-related matters, homelessness-related legal needs, interactions with police or corrections officers, jail or prison conditions, or government-related matters.
- We are NOT accepting or reviewing applications for expungements (clearing criminal records) at this time.
- We are NOT accepting or reviewing applications for orders for protection, estate or probate law (like wills or guardianships), or for family law-related matters like custody, child support, visitation, divorce, etc.
- We DO NOT have rent or utility financial assistance.
- Unfortunately, our limited resources mean we cannot accept every case or legal issue that is submitted to our office.
- It’s important that you not assume we will be able to help you and that you know you are still responsible for all legal obligations or deadlines regarding your issue while we review your application. Completing an application with ArchCity Defenders does not make you a client and does not create an attorney-client relationship.
When will we respond to your application?
We have been transitioning to a new online intake system. We appreciate your patience and apologize for the delays during this transition.
Unfortunately, we cannot process any emergency requests for representation. It may also take up to 14 days for you to receive a response to your application.
If you recently submitted an application regarding your legal issue, we ask that you please not submit any additional applications regarding that same issue, as it could delay our ability to respond to your request because of the volume of applications we receive.
How will we respond?
We will follow up with you via phone or email if you provide us with that contact information, or by letter to the address you provide in your application.
