Where are you from?

St. Louis, MO. I have lived here all my life.

When did you join ArchCity Defenders? Why?

I had worked as co-counsel with ACD on several class actions. I realized that something admirable and special was taking place here and wanted to be part of it on a regular basis.

What is your background (work and education)?

Undergrad degrees in Philosophy and Psychology. Graduate school study in Cognitive Science. Law School at St. Louis University School of Law (1981).

Mostly Private Practice attorney since 1981 (several law firms, including Simon Law Firm, from 2004 – 2013); Assistance Attorney General for the State of Missouri from 1986-1990. Currently, run proprietorship, Erich Vieth – Attorney at Law; Since 2012, Professor at Saint Louis University School of Law (Civil Trial Practice and Judicial Externship courses); Adjunct Professor at Bahcesehir University, Istanbul, Turkey.

What do you do at ArchCity Defenders?

I am a contract attorney working part-time at ACD. I assist with litigation by helping to strategize, drafting filings, researching and working to serve as a resource for the various attorneys on staff.

What words would you use to describe ArchCity Defenders?

Dedicated, passionate, energized to serve the mission of ACD.

Favorite client memory/win you’ve had?

Generally, helping clients understand the complex litigation in which they are involved.

Fun/personal fact you want to share.

I have two wonderful daughters, aged 18 and 20. I have long worked as a musician and still do this occasionally. I am an exhibiting photographer – my favorite types of photos are portraits and Urban Exploration.
