Paralegal State Certification Program

Mykal Dean is a native St. Louis resident, who joins ACD with education from University of Missouri-Kansas City, and is currently completing the Paralegal State Certification program with anticipated grad date July 2026. Her background is in healthcare, where Mykal worked with children with critical and sometimes terminal illnesses.  

Mykal is a previous ArchCity Defenders client, who was assisted in a wrongful eviction case. She says the case and work with ACD legal and social services opened her eyes to see more flaws in the system, leading to transition to legal work. In her current role at ACD, Mykal joins the Housing and Civil Advocacy team as a paralegal,  in hopes to continue addressing the deeper barriers that impact lives.

FUN FACT: I listen to close to 100 audiobooks a year! I love a good psychological thriller!
