Bound by blood | An Art Exhibition Exploring the Impact of Fatal State Violence

We invite you to join us on Friday, January 20, 2023 at The Luminary in St. Louis for opening night of “Bound By Blood,” an art exhibition featuring a series of portraits and video stories told by women whose loved ones have been killed by police and died in jail custody.
Distinguished writer, lawyer, and activist Andrea Ritchie will be providing the keynote address.

Program overview
- 5:30 pm – Doors open
- 6:00 pm – Introduction and welcome
- 6:15 pm – Libations pouring in honor of those killed by Fatal State Violence
- 6:30 pm – Viewing of the video stories
- 6:45 pm – Keynote by Andrea Ritchie
- 7:30 pm – Open gallery and live music from the Bosman Twins
- 8:25 pm – Closing remarks
- 8:30 pm – Program end
Food and drink will be provided. In addition, limited first-edition copies of “In Her Words: The Impact of Fatal State Violence on Black Women and Women of Color Left Behind,” the publication accompanying the project, will be available at the exhibition on opening night.
The exhibition is a collaboration between ArchCity Defenders, The Luminary, and My Friends and I, and will be available for public viewing during the Luminary’s regular hours from opening night until February 3, 2023.
